I have years of experience using benthic and planktonic diatoms as bio-indicators (References, Curriculum Vitae), e.g. to implement the European Water Framework Directive and in paleolimnology (Publications).

Equipment:

For diatom identification I use the microscope “Axio Scope.A1” from Zeiss with a 100x magnifying objective „Plan-Apochromat“ (numerical aperture of 1.4), differential interference contrast (DIC), the camera “AxioCam ICm1” and the following identification literature:
